Jacqueline Fernandez hails from Manama in Bahrain. She grew up within an ethnically diverse family. Jacqueline's parents are Malaysian and from Sri Lanka. Her father Elroy Fernandez hails from Sri Lanka. There are two brothers younger than her as well as an older sister. In the 80s, her parents emigrated to Bahrain in protest against the civil war on Sri Lanka. This is why she was both born and raised in the country. In Australia she pursued a degree in Media and Communications at University of Sydney after completing her studies in Bahrain. She went to in the Berlitz School of Foreign Languages that helped her learn French, Arabic and Spanish. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March of 2006, and later participated as Miss Universe 2006 also. Following her win of the Miss Sri Lanka title in 2006, she took on the world of television. She was the host of a show that was a business show in Sri Lanka named Lanka Business Report. Padukone was the daughter and badminton champ Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew as a child in Bangalore and came from Copenhagen. As a teenager Padukone competed in a variety of national badminton tournaments. But she gave up the sport when she decided to become a fashion model. Padukone is of Mangalorean background Her mother language is Konkani. Her family tree is rooted in Padukone village located in Kundapura Taluk in the Udupi District of the state of Karnataka, India. Prakash Padukone has retired as an international badminton player, while her mother also works as a travel advisor.
